Welcome to Kalgi, the trusted logistics company founded in 2018 by Sonia Cheema, a 13-year veteran in the trucking industry. A San Jose/Bay Area native, Sonia’s family history in trucking runs deep, with her father having done it all in the industry from crane operating to 18 wheelers, and continuing to be a proud commercial operator at the age of 68. In 2002, her father introduced her brothers to the trucking field, and after facing a recession from 2007-2011, Sonia knew change was needed in her family business. She started a trucking company in the Bay Area that she’s been successfully running since 2011, and after seeing the shortfalls in the logistics industry, she started Kalgi to take logistics to a whole new level.
Sonia’s educational background in Business and Accounting at San Jose State University, along with her prior work experience and family history in trucking, has led her to become an authentic and dynamic leader. It has further allowed Kalgi to become a very organized and reliable transportation service provider to shippers and carriers. Sonia has maintained a steady, slow-growth process of expansion over the last 13 years, extending the company’s reach and capabilities while remaining small enough to preserve a personal approach to third-party logistics (3PL).
